Joe Mathias founded Concourse Capital Management, LLC in 2008 and serves as President and Portfolio Manager. Prior to Concourse, Mr. Mathias was Vice President of Investments at GMT Capital, a multi-billion dollar private investment company. While at GMT from 2002 to 2008, he was responsible for the Media, Technology and Telecommunications sectors. Previously, Mr. Mathias was Vice President of Corporate Development for WebMD, Inc. where, as part of the original management team from 1998 to 2001, he helped secure dozens of strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions pivotal to its growth from start-up to market leader. Earlier in his career, Mr. Mathias worked extensively in private equity investments within the media sector. In 1990, he founded Benchmark Communications, L.P. and while serving as General Partner, sourced and purchased 40 radio stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern states. In 1997, after successfully growing the business and operating stations in 12 markets, the majority of Benchmark Communications was sold to Capstar Broadcasting Partners, an affiliate of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst, Inc. Mr. Mathias began his career at General Electric Company (GE) where he joined as part of their Financial Management Program. Mr. Mathias earned his B.A. from Principia College and M.B.A. from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
